(40,656 posts)been shoveling so the little dogs can go out and potty without burying themselves. Chihuahuas and Dachshunds have a one inch clearance problem.

(23,720 posts)It started about 7:30 am. Weather people said 1-3 here in the Detroit area. Further north, Flint, Lansing are expecting 3-6.

(280 posts)I bet I won't get to use it this year, but if I didn't have it I would be inundated with snow. (i'm in Connecticut)

(23,720 posts)My snow blower is broke and my son couldn't find time all summer to order the part and fix it, so I pretty sure we'll need it. So the old momma is gonna lay a guilt trip on him later .But I have a back up plan.
I have a friend with a blade on his quad. He stores it in my garage all summer. He came and got it last night. I'll be the last on his list to get done, but if we get an accumulation,I expect him about midnight to do my drive. He's single and doesn't cook, so I need to figure out something for dinner so I can send a plate home. It's a small price to pay so I don't have to get out there

(2,943 posts)Good Plan! Here Southern California it is 80 plus degrees this weekend. Last weekend went to the mountains where it got below freezing. Really needed the break from the HOT weather!

(25,586 posts)But I'm afraid any serious SoCal rain is probably a month out.
I'm sad -- I really love rain, especially the coming-down-in-buckets kind we get in California.

(26,258 posts)The last I checked, we were at about 8 inches, but it's still coming down. I'm pretending to be too old and frail to shovel (ok, I do have a snow blower) and also plan on pretending to be snowed in until Monday. Fortunately, I did a recent Trader Joe's run, so I'm well supplied in the survival department. It's just way too cozy, in front of the fireplace, to chance getting a chill by going outside.

Try the deep dish pizza.
Gino's East is a bit touristy.
You also must try to get an Italian Beef sandwich from one of these (not super touristy) places-
http://amazingribs.com/recipes/beef/italian_beef.html
Or if you can't get to one of them, there are a couple of larger chains that are very good as well.
They also have the famous chicago style hotdog at both of these...

(46,436 posts)We got about eight inches last night, and it's coming down again now. I'm just hoping it stays cold enough to hold off the rain that they were predicting for tomorrow.

(5,997 posts)Then on Thanksgiving, the forecast is 57f and sunny!
A few years ago we had similar temp swings (but in a shorter period) and trees were splitting due to thermal shock.
