Trump wants ISIS dead and he wants their families dead, too
WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is calling for the United States to kill not only terrorists — but their families.
“When you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families,” the GOP presidential front-runner said Wednesday on “Fox & Friends.”
“They care about their lives, don’t kid yourselves. But they say they don’t care about their lives. But you have to take out their families.”
His comments came the day after Lebanon released the ex-wife of ISIS terror leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a prisoner swap.
During the interview, Trump pointed out that the Obama administration is pushing to oust Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad while simultaneously working to defeat ISIS.
“You’ve got to pick who you’re fighting, you can’t fight everybody,” Trump said.
“ISIS is our No. 1 threat. I would knock the hell out of them. I like to do one thing at a time.”
Standard US military doctrine is to go after armed enemies while taking efforts to avoid civilian casualties when possible.
