Bob Corker (R-TN) is "extremely disappointed" he got caught cheating on his financial disclosure

Corker acknowledges millions in 'filing errors'

Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker had not properly disclosed millions of dollars in income from real estate, hedge funds and other investments until last Friday, according to a Sunday evening report from The Wall Street Journal. The Republican senator said these were oversights he has since corrected.

“I am extremely disappointed in the filing errors that were made in earlier financial disclosure reports,” the Tennessee Republican told the Journal in a statement, after the newspaper had queried his office about his past financial reports that it said contained irregularities.

Corker, who is the third-ranking Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, did not properly disclose at least $2 million in income from investments in three separate hedge funds in Tennessee, as well as millions of dollars in income from commercial real estate investments because of an accounting error, and millions of dollars in various other assets and income from transactions.

This is the same Republican who tried to coerce workers at a Tennessee Volkswagon plant into voting against unionizing.

A receipt for a ream of copier paper maybe, but not an account with 7 figures in it. If he's this harried he should resign the Senate to tend to his affairs.

The senator’s office outlined those “technical errors” in a letter sent Friday to the secretary of the Senate. The letter notes 83 changes dating back to 2007, the year Corker arrived in the Senate.

-- Amend his disclosure for 2012 by increasing the range of commercial rental income he received from Corker Properties X LP. The income he previously reported was net income realized, but he amended it to reflect gross rental revenue before expenses, which put the asset into the income bracket of $1 million-$5 million. He pinpointed the rental income that year at $1.5 million.

-- Amend reports from previous years that under-reported at least $3.8 million in commercial rental income over seven years, according to the Wall Street Journal analysis.

-- Amend his 2014 report to correct the value of the Corker Development Corp., in which Corker has a partnership interest. The report originally valued the company at $1,000-$15,000. The amended value is $500,000-$1 million.

-- Amend the same report to add a previously unreported investment in Gerber Taylor Midland Fixed Income, a limited partnership. In this case, Corker reported the exact income from the investment -- $15,401.
