‘I didn’t come here to shoot, I came here to die’: Oregon militia occupiers fess up to local‘I didn’t come here to shoot, I came here to die’: Oregon militia occupiers fess up to local reporters
Writing for OPB, Amanda Peacher stated that early estimates of 150 occupiers are wildly inflated, saying, “only a few dozen men are occupying the federal building.” According to Peacher, federal employees were advised to stay clear of the refuge, in a memo that read: “Our top concern is employee safety. All employees are accounted for, and the Refuge will be closed until further notice. Employees of all land management agencies in the area will operate from alternate worksites, telework, or administrative leave.” Outside of the refuge, she interviewed one militia member — identifying himself only as “Capt. Moroni” — who told her, “I didn’t come here to shoot, I came here to die If that is what they are there for, just turning off water and power is not going to end this.

This is far enough out that water comes from a well. The pump needs electricity. Just like mine.
Depending on what type of heat, cutting off electricity might also cut that off as well. Mine certainly would. Then there's the possibility for the government to provide some 24/7 entertainment for these folks. They are obviously bored. I recommend this song played over and over in a continuous loop at heavy metal volume. They'll be out of there and in custody in no time. |

They don't run on wishes, you know.
Of course, the presumption is that there's a team of national guard people (or equivalent) surrounding the embattled enclave pointing and laughing at them, which is all they deserve. Plus, no more MREs for you! Then, there's my Barnie option: Played 24/7 on a continuous loop at heavy metal volume. Fine! You guys want a stand off? We'll show you a stand off. Hope you all like purple dinosaurs. No? Tough shit! And we hope y'all brought enough buckets to shit in because your well won't work very well when you can't fuel your generators. We'll bet you run out of fuel for your generator before you run out of MREs. The privates on the line laughing at y'all have a pool on how long you guys will last. Hint: nobody is betting beyond two months. However, I have to warn you. None of them have considered the Barnie factor. Hope y'all are having fun. Here's that music again. |

54. I suspect there's a perfectly adequate septic tank system there.
But yeah: cut off any possibility of resupply. Cut off access to the electric grid so they have to burn fuel for their generators. Cut off all communication except with the authorities blockading the compound, (although they may very well have a satellite rig...but you can at least make that another drain on generator fuel). They can't last forever.
Still, this would certainly be a hardship assignment for the people carrying out the siege. They'll be out in the bitter cold and wind in makeshift shelter while these dipshits are in warm stone buildings. You'd have to rotate people in and out if it looks to last for months. Moreover, it would be an expensive proposition, and even after you arrest, conflict, and fine the living hell out of them, it would still end up costing taxpayers* a fortune. But if the alternative is bloodshed, I'd rather be patient. *the very taxpayers these cretins probably think they're fighting for... |

Trust me. I live in the national forest.
When I lose power here -- it happens sometimes -- I lose my heat, my water, and just about everything else. It basically puts me back into the Stone Age. There are about eight different versions of the song list the 4th Psychological Operations Group got AFN-Panama to play (which they then played through a huge PA set up around the Vatican Embassy, in an attempt to flush Manuel Noriega out of there) during Operation Just Cause. Either (1) pick a Noriega Playlist and crank it the fuck up or (2) play Judas Priest and Elton John albums at ear-splitting volumes until these idiots run for their lives out of fear listening to those bands will give them Teh Gay.

Bomb the militia occupiers with water from a fire fighting helicopter.
They would rapidly become extremely cold and wet miserable asshats. In general I see the calls for aggressive violence repulsive. There should be a perimeter established and stringently enforced. Bombing them with water would way beat tear gas or arms. |

Begin violence by firing on law enforcement officers.
If Moroni is anything like the others there, their purpose is to incite violence. There are people in the militia movement that profess a desire for civil war, thinking that g he government will crumble before them. We all should Remember Ruby Ridge and it ultimately led to the bombing in Oklahoma. There are crazies on the right who desire violence to take back a country that never was. |

The suggestion to bomb them with water is sort of tongue in cheek and would not be to hurt them but to make them very miserable as it is now quite cold in eastern Oregon.
Far better than a direct assault or tear gas or the like. There would be some risk to the helicopter but minimal direct risk to the militia getting very wet and cold. I agree with you about the mindset of the militia regards to wanting to incite violence. |

55. The problem with all of those things (except electricity)...
...is that you'd have to get people really close to the compound to do it. There are several hundred yards of really open country surrounding the buildings there. There's a slight hill on one side, but it's still pretty open (and there's actually an observation tower on the property, from which a sniper could target anyone approaching from any direction, although they'd be vulnerable themselves). Basically, you have armed people with open fields of fire and stone buildings for cover. If you're ready to assault them, you can do it with armored vehicles, but anything short of that point would call for putting people at great risk.
Electricity could be cut off from the grid. They have generators, but it would be simple to blockade any resupply of fuel (or food). There is almost certainly a well on the property (I've never noticed in my visits, but I never had reason to look) as well as a large holding pond and a spring about 1500 feet away. No way to cut them off from water short of an assault. And that's what I'd like to see avoided: bloodshed. It may take a while, but let's wait these idiots out and arrest them when they're ready to give up without fighting. |

28. The situation there in Oregon
calls for a non-violent but appropriate response.
I suggest that giant vats of lime Jello be dumped from the air onto the occupied facility and surrounding grounds. This would involve several steps on the part of the government, most of the inconvenient, but the Jello drops would be non-stop. I think round-the-clock lime Jello dumped from up-high vats onto the grounds would be an effective response to the Bundy group's recalcitrance. At some point in about the third or fourth day, no one inside the facility would be able to see outside the facility. Also, the access road would be a sea of lime Jello. I think it would most entertaining. |
