Don’t Call Them Patriots. They’re Terrorists Occupying Sacred Native American Land

http://usuncut.com/news/native-land-bundy-gang-irony-lost/

“President U.S. Grant established the Maiheur Indian Reservation for the Northern Paiute in 1872. It is no coincidence that the historical reservation shares a name with the Maiheur National Wildlife Refuge, site of the current armed standoff.”

The above map shows the progression of how much land Native Americans had taken from them by armed white men from the beginning of colonization to the present day. Before 1492, Native Americans enjoyed full use of the land that had been theirs for thousands of years. By the end of the Revolutionary War, whites had stolen land down most of the entire East Coast. By the time the Civil War began, whites had stolen much of the Midwest and the Great Plains. Colonization spread west to California after the Gold Rush.

I can't see any of those black areas that are land held or returned to Indians... (slight sarcasm, I know they exist, but on the other hand I really can't see any on the map.)

Oh and "Land transfferred to Federal Government"? Really? They were just, sort of, handed over? Somehow I don't think so.

I must point out that the Celts didn't magically appear fully formed in that area yo point out. They did grow out from a single locale and displaced previous occupants.

Humanity's history and that of all flora and fauna is one of migrations and displacememts.

One of histories biggest events was the migrations of the Germans in response to climate change in the 4th-5th centuries. Scotch-Irish is a story of displacing the Irish in Ulster.

I was noting that this is a normal occurrence of mankind. Also common is tribes that assimilate into others. Modern nations are basically big tribes.

Churchill's History of the English Speaking People is in the first chapters the history of invasion after invasion of what we now consider England, Scotland and Wales.

It's history. Think of the Mongols. Think of the Romans before that. It's all invasion and migration.

Just a few miles north of Burns, about 30 miles or so (by road) to where these dolts have occupied the refuge HQ.

15. that block quote is quite inaccurate

or deliberately dishonest.

One relevant fact, if you look at the map from 1775.

The white population was about 2.7 million in 1780. The native population was perhaps 800,000. All that vast territory with the population of the state of South Dakota.

As for this use of the word "stolen". I suppose all those payments don't mean anything, nor does the relative vacancy of the land?

Much of the land was purchased. For example, here is the founding of Maryland

"The resident Indians, the Yoacomacos, were already planning to abandon the site, with its village and cleared fields, and willingly gave the English the whole region in exchange for a supply of axes, hoes, and cloth." "The Barbarous Years" (TBY) p 133

Sweden started a colony.

"But perhaps his [Risingh's] greatest success was the PURCHASE from the Susquehannock Indians of a huge block of land - over 250 square miles - that extended the colony's western boundaries to the head of Chesapeake Bay." TBY p 294 (emphasis mine)

Granted, sometimes the prices paid, particularly by Harrison, were ridiculously low, but let's look at how Native American tribes often acquired land.

"The first, dominating the Virginia plain, was the brutally expansive 'empire' of Powhatan. That dominant chiefdom had emerged only in the recent past, sometime between the 1550s and 1580s, and was still in the process of expansion and consolidation when the English arrived in 1607. Inheriting six chiefdoms on the upper James and York rivers, Powhatan had expanded the area of his control by sheer conquest, defeating or intimidating one neighboring group after another, absorbing their warriors into his band, and turning his enlarged army on other neighbors who resisted his demands for tribute and subjection." TBY pp 27-28

Stole it, fair and square.

Black Hawk describes how the Sauk founded their main village. "They all descended Rock river - drove the Kas-kas-kias from the country, and commenced the erection of their village, determined never to leave it." autobiography p 46

Didn't pay a single nickel.

But to refer to as 'sacred' every piece of land formerly occupied by, or travelled through, by native Americans is ridiculois.
