The wheels seem to be coming off the Bumbling Bundy Bandwagon

http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2016/01/oregon-standoff-latest/422622/

—Ryan Bundy, one of the leaders of the group that is now calling itself Citizens for Constitutional Freedom, told Oregon Public Broadcasting that the group would leave if the local community asked it to. “This is their county. We can’t be here and force this on them,” he said Monday. “If they don't want to retrieve their rights, and if the county people tell us to leave, we’ll leave.”

About the same time Ammon was saying something quite different.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/05/us/oregon-wildlife-refuge-armed-protest/

For two days, the group made only vague statements about what would make them leave. But on Monday night, protest spokesman Ammon Bundy laid out specific demands.
The occupation would end when "the Hammonds are freed and the federal government gives up control of the Malheur National Forest," Bundy tweeted.
The tweet was later deleted.

And the resident hothead was still talking tough on Monday.
"We came very well prepared. We're in it for the long haul," protester John Reitzheimer said.

This gang apparently hasn't figured out yet that this kind of operation needs to speak with one voice if they are going to have any success at all. Right now they just look like a bunch of street thugs who took on more than they could handle and can't figure out how to get out of it without getting hurt.

I am guessing the Bundy lawyers are weighing in about now and the Bundy boys realize they are in deep doo doo but Johnny Boy Reitzheimer is still trying to get them to hold out. Ammon was trying to hang tough with Johnny but for the moment is listening to the counsel of brother Ryan and the lawyers. Tune in tomorrow to see if Ammon throws Johnny under the bus or defies brother Ryan and the lawyers.

They do have hats, though. It is 10 degrees outside. Perfect for my cowboy hat!

And cell phones.

No cattle, though, as far as I can tell. Ammon has a trucking company, that he got a federally subsidized SBA loan of $500,000 + for. Those evil Feds keep ruining my life!

Don't assume someone is really in control because they are a mouthpiece. Operatives do what they are told, someone else pulls the strings and is never seen. Where are their orders coming from?

Got it from an Army Surplus store. Not because of the patch but because it kept my ears warm. A real sniper wouldn't advertise. It's about stealth, not garish neon.

If that doesn't qualify as a threatening posture, I'm not sure what does. It's as provocative as open carry. "Be afraid of me, I've got a gun," it says.

I'd bet on a real sniper against a "major league sniper" any time.

You have to wonder how they thought this would be a good idea. I give them less than a week to give up but they might try to create a gun battle to bring in the other militias.

These idiots think they have widespread popular support, and in all likelihood believed that Ammon Bundy's call to "stand up" would be met with enthusiastic throngs of like-minded idiots.

They did not expect that they would largely be considered buffoons.

That had to hurt. Brilliant strategy by the White House. Particularly since the Bundy Gang keeps saying they answer only to local law enforcement. Except or course when they don't, as in this case.

Yup. There is a group of sovereigntist in my area. From the eighties to the nineties they infiltrated the court and local government. Created serious legal headaches when their decisions resulted in a series of lawsuits, because sovereigntist are not known for their respect for constitutional documents. They did a great job of tapping into the anti-government sentiment among Republicans, and the greedy among the Democrats. But most of these people will stop short of what the Bundys did. That isn't to say that the true sovereigntist were not drooling, hoping that the ember would have sparked into something more.

They are a lot like the Fundamentalist Church in 1492, thinking the Pope was the center of the Universe and could partition the whole world for the Catholic princes. In fact, this is a direct result of the 1492 religious fundamentalist problem. What started by releasing pig herders upon America to steal gold for Pope and King is the context of this drama. Most of the Indians are dead now, but the cowboys are still itching to fight and steal the stolen land for themselves, fuck pope, king, or country.

These guys are still living a William Walker reality, thinking let's put together an armed gang and take over a country. Unlike William Walker, they didn't have the good sense to pick a tiny country, and like William Walker they have an over-inflated sense of their chance of success. William Walker found out the hard way when he faced a firing squad of bare-footed Nicaraguan citizens. Overthrowing nations is a dangerous occupation.

I hope they are shutting down the cell towers with the power. Don't allow these invaders access to our infrastructure.
