Highly recommended. No spoilers. It's about the Boston Globe's investigative team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2003 for uncovering child abuse and coverup in the Catholic archdiocese.
I'd heard praise for the movie but was reluctant to see it because the subject matter is painful. Don't let that keep you from seeing it. The movie focuses on the journalism. By committing time and resources, the Globe's Spotlight team pursued the systemic causes of the coverup, which led to an outpouring of revelations worldwide.

(11,833 posts)So are Rachel McAdams & Liv Schrieber. It's an ensemble cast, which I love. Makes good sense for the movie because there's so many important characters in the story.

(23,156 posts)The degree of abuse and the systematic nature of the cover-up is beyond shocking.
It's a movie everyone should see.

(11,833 posts)As you say - 'beyond shocking.'
I have so much respect for the people who shine a spotlight. And in most cases (like the lawyer played by Stanley Tucci) the emotional toll that it costs.
It's in the running for the year's best picture.
I agree, everyone should see it.
