Cologne mass sex assaults appear planned, co-ordinated, German justice minister says

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/cologne-assaults-1.3397483

"SNIP............

German authorities need to quickly determine whether a string of New Year's Eve sexual assaults and robberies in Cologne blamed largely on foreigners may be linked to similar offences in other cities, the justice minister said in comments published Sunday.

Authorities and witnesses say the attackers were among about 1,000 people, mostly men, gathered at Cologne's central train station, some of whom broke off into small groups that groped and robbed women.
......

"If such a horde gathers in order to commit crimes, that appears in some form to be planned," Justice Minister Heiko Maas told the newspaper Bild. "Nobody can tell me that this was not co-ordinated or prepared."

The attacks are still being investigated, but police have said their focus is on suspects of primarily North African origin, which has put pressure on Chancellor Angela Merkel's government and its open-door policy to asylum seekers. Nearly 1.1 million refugees and migrants arrived in Germany in 2015 alone.

ISIS is neither Islamic nor a State.

They are Islamic because they draw their philosophy from words in the Koran, whether the majority of Muslims do or not.

They are a State because they control and administer territory.

there is little more ISIS needs to gain support.

It's not Germany's or the West's fault that this happened. It is the fault -- first, last and exclusively -- of the perpetrators. We owe them no kid glove treatment to guard against hypothetical future bad behavior; their current behavior is as abhorrent as it gets.

"Be nice after I assault you or it will only get worse," is the claim of domestic abusers, mobsters and fascists. They -- and their enablers -- are to be held in contempt.

...of Muslims in Europe. Not that moral degenerates like Daesh care, but I'm convinced we're witnessing the beginnings of a sea change over there, and the possible outcome for Muslims in Europe could be horrifying. Humans all over are, collectively, prone to some pretty extreme swings of the pendulum. What some may have chosen to see as a permanent change in pan-European culture towards acceptance of multiculturalism following the atrocities if the Fascist era is not as fully inculcated in modern Europeans as they may think. I'd argue that it's instead a thin veneer that each generational cycle reduces instead of bolstering (because it's just that much further removed from the past and that much closer to things like these attacks). It's a form of bigotry: "Oh, that could never happen again to Europeans! They've become much too civilized!" Don't believe it.

If the governments in the most affected countries don't find these criminals and act in a demonstrably effective manner to curb future repetition, those governments will fall, to be replaced by far more right-wing parties. The same for further attacks like Paris. And anyone that doesn't think that a shift to the right greases the skids toward atrocities is horribly naive about both history and mob psychology.

Frankly, if those potential atrocities only caught people like those perpetrators of attacks on women or terrorists, I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it. But that's not how it would go down, is it? Mobs (even those comprised of legislators...) aren't known for being able to discriminate between the guilty and the innocent with any accuracy.

A group of up to 500 Arab men repeatedly tried to storm a disco and sexually assaulted the women in the area.

There've also been reports of coordinated attacks in Hamburg and Stuttgart, as well.

for women to end a series of rapes.

She refused and said 'It is the men who are attacking the women. If there is a curfew, let the men stay at home'.

These men are feral and need to be re-educated or returned to their countries of origin if they can't behave in a civilized society.

The sentences they'll get won't be even one year in prison, so they won't be subject to the tightened rules.

Infuriating. The police and justice systems are failing German women, big time.

German social media has exploded with stories like this one from a DUer coyote:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1014&pid=1307377

I can give you my 1st hand experience

I live in a town just south of Munich. There is refugee tent about 1-2 km from where I live. When I was walking down to the tram, a young blond girl about the age of 16 was walking in front of me. A group of refugees walking toward us started walking directly in front of the girl. When she moved right, they moved right, when she moved left, they moved left. They were purposely blocking her until I told them off. They laughed at me and thought it was a great laugh. The young girl took off as fast as she could.

This culture simply does not mix with German culture. The freedoms we once enjoyed have gone out the window and I truly feel sorry for the women here.

Imagine that -- refugees so callous and ungrateful toward their host country that they are intimidating teen girls on the street, for sport.

And imagine the host country's government unwilling to do a damn thing about it.

Even if the writer and the girl called the police and identified the culprits, they wouldn't be convicted of an offense that would result in deportation.

The dam has broken, people won't remain silent any longer. They know the police, government, and media have failed women on New Year's Eve and in the months leading up to the mass sexual assaults.

Merkel will either respond adequately to restore women's freedom and safety, or the election consequences will be dire.

I myself wouldn't vote for a politician who had inflicted this upon me and the young women of my neighborhood. As a feminist, I have worked LONG and HARD for my freedoms, and I demand that young women have it better than I did, with not one whit of backsliding. Hell No I won't give up a single iota of progress in the name of tolerating Islam.

I wish the women of Germany best of luck in regaining their human right to feel safe and be respected in their own neighborhood streets.
