Looking Less Likely That The Sanctuary Standoff Will End Peacefully Or Well.

The federal government cannot possibly agree to the militia's terms. It would not end at the sanctuary. If anything the militia wants to have ALL land returned to the states. And you wonder if the Kochs are behind this seizure somehow. We know they and other billionaires support it because they would buy the parks and want them pennies on the acres.

We are facing a larger rebellion over federal land. The Bundy types see this country as a confederation of the states like mini countries. They demand a balkanized nation. The GOP wants the federal government to look like it did during the Articles of Confederation with no national authority.

Kiss the US good by under such conditions. We would look like the country in the series "Revolution" on TV a few years ago.

Do they even believe in "states", or just a thousand county sheriffs? phantom power Jan 2016 #1

...since the one where they are at has asked them to leave and they have declined to do so. So much for "the only real law enforcement officer".

These yahoos do not respect any other authority. They will acknowledge a sheriff -- but only if said sheriff agrees with them.

MasterNemesis. And calling it a "seizure" is investing it with way too much significance. There is literally no way on earth this little group of weenies can hold that lonely little building one minute longer than the time the guys handling this for us allow.

To put it another way, if they actually posed serious danger, instead of just being a nuisance, most or all of them would already have been dead for several days.

You write, "The GOP wants the federal government to look like it did during the Articles of Confederation with no national authority." That's not accurate. They tout "states' rights" when it helps them, but they want the federal government to override or pre-empt state law when doing so is beneficial to big business.

There are 15 of them. Their occupation is laughable at best: in the middle of nowhere with enough supplies for only a day or two. They can easily be ignored and waited out. The reason the government has done nothing is because there's absolutely no reason to do anything.

This isn't even a "rebellion." It's a comedy act. This will be over and forgotten soon enough. All I see is tough guy talk from fake soldiers.
