His answer was that women shouldnt be given additional paid leave but should get the chance to telecommute so they can stay competitive in their careers.

Why had nobody thought of this earlier.
Tell the waitress/nurse/sales-woman/factory-worker who's pregnant in her third trimester to wait tables from home online or to take care for patients from home online or to run a cash-register from home online or to operate a machine from home online.
And he hasn't even thought of the the best part!!!
A newborn only needs 18 hours of care each day! These women have plenty of time to work from home!
