Can we have Ben Carson take a drug test?

He always looks like he's about to nod of into a drug-induced coma. If food stamp recipients have to be tested, shouldn't the same be true for presidential candidates?

. . .i'd be rooting for narcolepsy. Would minimize the damage he could do if he just nodded off all the time.

Perhaps this is why he retired at such a young age?

The idea of doctors as drug addicts is troubling. To think that your doctor could be high or suffering symptoms of withdrawal while treating you is terrifying. The unsettling truth is that doctors abuse drugs and become addicts at greater rates than the general population. There are many reasons for this, including stress and access to drugs, but there are also serious consequences. Thankfully there are physician health programs for addiction that can get doctors sober and back on track.

Government studies indicate at least 100,000 doctors — or about one in 10 currently working — is addicted to drugs or alcohol. Some are performing surgeries while stoned, injuring and even killing unsuspecting patients, according to TODAY national investigative correspondent Jeff Rossen, who found numerous cases of doctors busted for substance abuse.

“There are doctors out there right now under the influence of prescription narcotics as we speak, putting patients at risk,” said Dr. Stephen Loyd, a Tennessee doctor speaking from personal experience.
