Locals Claim Outsiders Harassing Them Since Before Oregon Standoff Began

These jerks are an absolute menace. Time for them to go, and for a long time now!

Members of the community near the militia-occupied Oregon wildlife refuge claim that outsiders have been stalking, intimidating and harassing them both before and during the standoff.

According to a report from the Oregonian, "More than a dozen local residents have reported to authorities that they were harassed in the weeks leading up to the occupation and in the days since."

The families interviewed spoke on the condition of anonymity to the Oregonian out of fear that they could be further targeted by the militia group that has now been holed up at Malheur Wildlife Refuge for more than a week.

While members of the self-proclaimed Citizens for Constitutional Freedom told the Oregonian they were not involved, residents near Burns, Oregon reported to authorities that many of the vehicles tracking them had out of state license plates.

A local pastor–who had been outwardly opposed to the presence of the militiamen at Malheur– shared with the Oregonian that individuals had drove to his home, yelled something at him and later, slowly trolled by his office.

"I thought if these guys know where I live, that's not going to be healthy for the safety of my family," the pastor told the paper.

The wife of a police officer in the community set up cameras in her neighborhood and caught what she said was militiamen just sitting in a truck in her driveway for up to 40 minutes at a time.

She told the Oregonian "every gun in the house is loaded."

likely the tip of the iceberg.

This is larger than most would think. I'm way over here i MT and some folks from my broader locale are there and participating. I don't know any of them, personally, but I know what they're about. And this has been a "thing" for a long time.

In my younger days I was acquainted with a guy who was involved with a statewide (in his state of residence) group who had a "plan", shall way say, for a sort of insurrection as wee see at the Malheur today. The thing is, the group was interwoven with others in surrounding states and they all wanted to either overthrow the government or at least take over 5 or 6 of the western states and maybe throw in Alaska for sh*ts and giggles. That was back in the mid 1970s.

These like-minded individualists want no governing, live in a fantasy world of some romanced vision of how life was in the early 19th century, only with modern toys (for which they apparently accept that technology came in the form of manna from gawd since science is bunk.) They have been around for decades.

I'm not sure of what I think the answers are to our current situation but I think that a lot of this will end up being up to individual citizens to stop this crap at the local level , 'cuz asking big daddy in DC (and I mean all agencies of the government not just the president) to come swooping in is only going to be a temporary band-aid treatment.

As far as I can tell, this is our "ride" currently. I think this year will determine how serious we are about avoiding a massive depopulation set of events for the whole planet along with how we plan to survive as a species.

10. Yep, local level involvement is key IMO too. Gov. to come swooping in will just fuel their cause and

likely embolden them further. The locals, many, are telling them to get out, they don't want them there. To me, that is an effective pressure. ... slower, but likely more effective in the long term.

What if it was Occupy or Black Lives Matter activists doing this? You know, taking over public facilities, destroying public property, appropriating government computers, harassing the local citizens? What would the response from law enforcement be? Would the activists be left alone, coming and going as they please? Would the media give them respectful hearings, press conferences, and airings of their views free of all contrary context?

What if . . . ?

with the Occupy movement taking over public parks.

How did that end? Tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, mass arrests, tanks with ear piercing noise machines, etc....

how is it that these law-flaunting criminals can come and go from their "occupation"?! Just pick them off one by one when they leave, starve out the rest, and end this shit.

i am honestly gobsmacked that this is happening.

7. A major factor in achieving the goal as you describe

is that there is also a faction of the civilian law enforcement corps supports the insurrectionists and could be preventing action as others would prefer.

The town is being taken over for the purpose of acquiring a base town for insurrectionists where all others are run off and heavily intimidated endlessly until they have an unfortunate mishap or leave. They want the whole county and ultimately several states to cede from the US... they figure that their empire, containing much of the mineral wealth and that of other natural resources, will provide for them. But first they want to play civil war because they wanna play with their gunz.
