That's what Washington Post editorial writer Stephen Stromberg, in his Sanders-bashing article, claims what happened to the entire nation when the ACA was being debated a few years ago:
Stromberg: "The nation has not recovered from the last big health-care reform debate. But Sanders dismissed Clintons call for practicality. Medicare for all, he insisted, is 'the rational way to go forward' ".
What the hell does that mean? Did Americans flock to see therapists or check themselves into mental hospitals because some politicos were screaming at each other on CNN or Fox News when Obamacare was being debated? Were emergency rooms flooded with traumatized people who were unable to "recover" from broadcasted scenes of Koch puppets wearing Revolutionary War costumes protesting against ACA?
And what does this mean?
Stromberg: "Sanders did not appear to consider the possibility that, even with campaign finance reform that reduces the influence of big money, a great many lawmakers might still oppose him, whether because they dont believe in the European model, they dont believe that Sanderss version of the European model would deliver on his unbelievable promises or they dont want to further strain the nations politics."
"Further strain the nation's politics"? We must keep the toxic status quo going because any kind of genuine health care reform might, er, "futher strain the nation's politics", which apparently might, uh, bend and break like, I don't know, a poorly glued part of a model airplane, or something like that.
Stephen Stromberg is the same K-Street mouthpiece tool who unctuously pimped for the TPP using this wordage:
Constricting the political space for progressives to favor trade deals, which is a potential result of the current debate, would be resoundingly bad for the country and the world, making it much more difficult to further liberalize economic exchange and encourage positive-sum international cooperation. If the term progressive is to bear any rational relation to its dictionary definition, this cannot happen.
