There were about 80 of us in the room, all good Democrats. It was one of our annual county Dems fundraisers, cocktails and munchables, light music playing in the background. Our representative to the state legislature was there, along with a guest speaker and a member of the city council. We also heard from representatives from the Clinton, Sanders, and OMalley campaigns; the crowd was split (roughly) 49% Clinton, 49% Sanders, 1% OMalley, and 1% undecided.
Wed only rented the room for a few hours, but we were having such a great time that folks were reluctant to leave, and many continued their conversations on the sidewalk outside in near-zero temps. Finally, one of the attendees let everyone know that the party could continue at her house, and continue it did well into the night.
What a great evening, full of very lively discussion, engaged, informed, enthusiastic and a complete absence of malice, hostility, accusations, innuendo, and anger. There was no shouting, no absolutism, no name-calling. This went way beyond civility. This was nothing less than Democrats bonding with other Democrats while celebrating being Democrats.
Now whoda thunk THAT was possible?!

I need to go back to 8th grade, myself.
