Why do I keep reading GOP talking points on DU?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Sissyk (a host of the General Discussion forum).

The latest example is:
The real reason why we don't have single payer is because nobody wants to pay for it

(1) Why didn't Vermont try to fund it?
(2) Why are the young invincibles participating in the ACA exchanges below expectations? By design, their role was to subsidize the sick and elderly but apparently they decided they would rather not.
(3) Why are the unions complaining about the Cadillac tax, so much so that it's getting postponed?

If even the bluest liberal blocs would rather not pay for someone else's health care, why makes you think a much more divided America would want to do so?

The answer is that everybody IS paying for it. Directly, in the form of premiums and co-pays, and indirectly by the taxes that we pay to subsidize healthcare for the poor.

Every other industrialized democracy pays for it, mainly by taxes that provide universal access. The taxes are still cheaper than paying for private insurance because there is no profit motive.

17. And the president must be obeyed

I have read a few posts that said we can't have Medicare for all because it would make Obamacare look bad. What can you say about such destructive thinking?

3. I have noticed some relatively new members

-- the ones whose profiles I bothered to check all started late last summer or in the fall -- and they are happily posting all these talking points. And a lot of them claim to be true blue Hillary supporters. I've never particularly concerned myself with trolls before, but I think we're seeing a lot of long-term trolls right now. They are good at not being so overt they get tombstoned, but they're trolls nonetheless.

15. The turd way is trying to decouple itself completely from the democratic party

Mrs Clinton's platform is nearly identical to the republicans, including making for profit health insurance permanent and crushingly expensive. The party and ideals of the new deal and the great society are hated by the Clinton supporters. They are republicans with reproductive rights, right down to their hatred for liberals.

Some of the the questions that you label "GOP talking points" are in fact good questions that need to be answered.

20. that isn't much of a rebuttal

I notice you did not bother to answer any of the questions posed there.

Sure people are paying for it, but for a lot of people - it looks free. If I was working a full time job, I would get health care from my present employer - for nothing.

My co-worker though, is crying about his expenses - even though a) he is getting insurance for a family of four, and b) our employer is paying much more each month for him than they are for me, and c) especially since they are now paying NOTHING for me.

So we work the same job, except I have been there ten years longer, and he is basically getting paid $1,135.80 a month more than me for doing the same job.

Yet he is crying about his expenses.

Of course, if we had single payer paid for by the current income tax system, he would suddenly get an even bigger subsidy - from the rest of us, because he currently pays negative federal income tax.
