I have people come up to me and say why are you killing us Americans? Im an American, too, how are you going to say that, Isis says. It doesnt take very much sleuthing to know that the young girl is entirely innocent in the matter. As Shakespeare said, A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, meaning names are just personal labels that dont define us or our character. Why should one little girl have to answer for the actions of a cruel organization, when its all just a bizarre coincidence?
I bet you the school does nothing to stop it.
There is a video the girl made. I don't tear up easily. But, I feel for her. I got it fore being the only Jew in a hick town.

Having this name taken by terrorists is incredibly bad luck. I wonder if it's another reason why Obama has chosen Isil.

(7,820 posts)Isis is a lovely name- she was I'm sure named for the Egyptian Goddess (long before ISIL was a group) The name had been around for millennia and it sucks that this is (for now) what too many think of when they hear it.

(15,380 posts)Probably because I liked Joanna Cameron in the Saturday morning show in the 1970s that came on after Shazam! Unfortunately, that name is probably "ruined" for a while.
