Yep, it's that time of the year again when your granddaughter hits you up for overpriced cookies.

(109,202 posts)But admittedly I have never tried most of the newer varieties (newer than the two above and the shortbread "sandies", which I also like)...
I eat virtually no sweetened foods except fresh fruit now, so I only buy to give away. sigh.... but the memories linger.

(178 posts)Oh you mean cookies?
I'd have to go with Trefoils.
Samoas used to be my favorites, but they are now too sweet.

(47,287 posts)The Peanut Butter Patties are called Tagalongs around here. I just ordered some here (and some thin mints) at the office.

(26,582 posts)If I buy cookies from Fort Worth they have different names than Dallas. I think each council decides which of the two bakeries to buy from.

(87 posts)Samoas and Carmel de lites are the same cookie - they changed the name to Samoa a few years ago.

(87 posts)They had told us that they were all going to use Samoa- but I guess they forgot to tell the different bakeries that- we use ABC Bakers here in this region. Interesting that they are different recipes. I know the Samoas do not taste right this year- unless that's just me

(16,296 posts)and a glass of cold milk. Ah, the memories. Wife was a thin mint person.
A little girl with a sweet face selling cookies, whomever thought of this was a genius. Then again, how about that story of Girl Scouts selling their cookies outside a marijuana shop in Colorado and making a small fortune before they thought better of it. Marketing powerhouses.
