Feel the love!-- GOP Senator: I'd Vote For Bernie Sanders Over Ted Cruz

Still, Cruz has become such a pariah that one of his colleagues, Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, told supporters at a campaign fundraiser for his own re-election that he would vote for liberal Sen. Bernie Sanders for president before Cruz, according to one person who attended the event. Burr did not appear to be joking, said the person, who demanded anonymity to discuss the private gathering.

1. Now he's trying to walk it back

http://www.wnd.com/2016/01/gop-senator-denies-saying-hed-vote-sanders-over-cruz/ (I know, I know, World Nut Daily... )

U.S. Sen. Richard Burr on Thursday strongly denied a news report that said he had told people he would vote for Democrat Bernie Sanders over Republican Ted Cruz.

Burr’s aides asked The Associated Press for a retraction. An AP spokesman said the news agency was sticking by its story.

“I will support whoever the GOP nominee is,” Burr tweeted. “@AP is trying to create discord where there isn’t discord by telling lies.”

Burr was responding to an AP story by reporter Erica Werner about Cruz’s unpopularity with fellow Republican senators.

2. Doubt It

Even if he did actually make such a statement, I seriously doubt any sitting repub is going to vote for a Democrat in the election.

Not surprising that he's trying to get in front of the story with a denial. Could cause an uproar among the party power brokers, and that would not be good for his reelection hopes.

4. It ocurred to me this morning that Sanders vs Cruz in November would be ininteresting for this . . .

For reasons that have nothing to do with ideology, Bernie Sanders is one of the best-liked people among his fellow Senators and Ted Cruz is probably the most loathed.
