(39,343 posts)1. How does a third grader know about Netflix and chill?

(2,472 posts)4. I spent ten years working at an elementary school. Most people would be totally
surprised at what kids know these days. I once found a fourth grader drawing a picture that was artistically equivalent to something an adult, a very talented adult, would draw. It was absolutely gorgeous artwork. But what the picture depicted was shocking - at first glance all I noticed was a naked woman seated. And then I saw that it had the back of a man's head between her legs! I was thoroughly embarrassed to have to show it to the principal and told her so the next day. She told me that she had to show it to the kid's dad, which was even more embarrassing for her. There were many more instances of things kids shouldn't know, but somehow they do. Today's kids know way more than adults think they do.
