(9,352 posts)We know she became a Canadian citizen. Was she one before his birth?
Question and its answer get really murky

(28,333 posts)His is a Canadian citizen. He is also an American citizen. "Natural Born" has not yet been defined, particularly as it relates to the presidency. That's all we know.

(17,003 posts)Until Cruz or someone born outside of the US is elected we don't know what they will decide. And the term is only used in reference to eligibility to be president.
I think it's simple natural born citizen means born in the US.

(11,175 posts)The Obama birthers generally lost because they didn't have standing, not because a court reached the merits and found Obama to have been born in Hawaii.
If I were a judge, I'd also be influenced by the Constitution's clear directive that Congress counts the electoral votes. That suggests to me that Congress decides which votes to count, and could decide not to count votes cast for ineligible persons. If Congress certifies the count and declares someone the winner, I don't think that decision is subject to judicial review.

So if one is an American citizen and not naturalized, then what is the other option?

(11,175 posts)What I remember reading is that her name appeared on some list of people eligible to vote. I find it quite plausible that her inclusion was a clerical error, that she never became a Canadian citizen, and that she never voted in Canada.

(7,290 posts)But she couldn't have become one by the time Cruz was born, and what she did after he was born is irrelevant.
And I'm with you, no one know that she was a voter.
