(41,694 posts)But that was highly unusual, froze water mains all over town.
One year we hit 100° in Feb and 10 days later we got a half inch of snow.

That's warm for these parts at this time of the year. We've had little snow this season. I've only had my driveway plowed out twice so far, with no big snow in the forecast. The big eastern storm missed us entirely.
Hope you are well, malaise!

After the last 2 winters this is awesome. Although we will probably get smacked in February or March. Still predicting an early spring here this year tho.

Mind you, that's the one and only harbor, but it's not deep enough for the cruise ships, so the cruisers have to be ferried in on tenders. There were none in yesterday, but Monday might be interesting.

Fortunately, you only had to deal with tomatoes. I assume your yacht is okay.

(37,573 posts)I just had to run down and open my basement doors.
I already had a lot of my windows open.
Trying to warm up. Yesterday my zero room was 30 degrees. I call it the zero room because it has zero heat vents and it gets cold in the winter (I need to replace that window some day too). My basement has been 38 degrees. So I hope to warm both a little today.
malaise
(268,903 posts)Not for me - hope you warm up.

(37,573 posts)I close that room in the winter. When I first bought the house I tried blowing warm air into it with a box fan, but figured out pretty quick that I was not gonna be comfortable with that door open. It's my summer bedroom, right next to the living room. My winter bedroom, in the upstairs, has no air conditioning in the summer. I could put a couple of window units up there, but it's cheaper and easier to just move depending on the season.
It's up to 47 now.
malaise
(268,903 posts)No air conditioning here either and we sure don't need heat
hfojvt
(37,573 posts)3 little window units, and during some heat waves I struggle to keep the downstairs below 82. I mean when you have 5 straight days of 100 plus temps, plus sunshine and nights only cooling off to about 80, well it can be tough. Keeping the upstairs comfortable would be impossible at times. it's better since I planted a maple on the west side. Twelve years later I get good shade now from my 'son'. I worry about running machines 24/7. So I will run one a/c for eight hours and then switch.
The house came with a big 220 window unit which kinda conked out the second summer. The little ones proved far cheaper to run, paid for itself in the first six weeks.

Seriously, though, we're celebrating it being 30 degrees here in St. Paul. It's a veritable heat wave.
