Is the Sundance Film Festival open to like, ordinary regular people?

Correct me if I'm wrong about this. I just seem to get a vibe that only Hollywood elites, reporters and other well-connected people and hangers-on get to go to Sundance.

I really want to see some of these movies.

who worked the venue for admission to the movies - no pay. They used to do this every year.
My doctor and his family attended last year to see a relative's movie (the one about playing music from the younger days for Alzheimer's patients). They are all regular people. (Unfortunately they thought they really scored on a hotel that looked close but found out when they got there it required a very long ride AROUND a forest)

it was a lot different back then, but yes, regular folks without a move or are a celebrity can attend.

that said, it's costs a small fortune.

I was only able to attend because the executive producer of my film foot the bill. (he had bucks)

on edit: it was a wonderful experience.

The trick is, getting passes to the parties. That's were the real fun is.

One of the films i worked on premiered in a Palo Alto festival. I attended the entire festival, saw as many films as I could. Great Time, impressive speakers, important films.
