LINCOLN Two years ago, Jeffrey Bulduc cried as his life appeared to be falling apart around him.
A genetic test had shown that the Omaha man was not the father of the girl he had been raising as a single dad.
What's more, her biological father had emerged after 10 years to seek custody of the girl.
Friday morning, Bulduc was crying again.

(29,135 posts)that the biological parent should be able to claim any greater "right" to a child than a court-determined custodial parent. Biology is the least of what makes someone a parent.
"'A genetic test establishing that Todd was (the girl's) biological father does not compel a legal determination that Todd should be allowed to intervene or that the 2001 paternity degree should be set aside,'" the court said.
Good call.

(33,224 posts)The justification by the friend is "she doesn't want Z to be the father." Mom knows with 100% certainty that "Z" is the biological father.
The ex-husband "J" knows he's not the dad and is okay with it - today - but he's very flaky and if history is any judge, unlikely to be in the picture next year. They divorced a couple of years ago and reconciled when she was about 6 months pregnant.
What are your thoughts about this? It annoys the shit out of me. Not only is she unilaterally empowered to decide for two people to become parents, she's empowered to choose the dad with a stroke of a pen.
