Three days ahead of the Iowa caucuses,Donald Trump, the front-runner for the GOP nomination, today attacked Sen. Ted Cruz again for being born in Canada.
"Now, Ted Cruz may not be a U.S. citizen. Right? But he's an anchor baby in Canada. No, he's an anchor baby. Ted Cruz is an anchor baby in Canada," Trump said today at his event in Nashua, New Hampshire.
He also said the Texas senator got pummeled last night" at the GOP presidential debate.
They didnt even mention he was born in Canada, Trump lamented.
Trump also said he would've "in theory" rather have been at the Republican debate last night.
In theory, I wouldve rather done the debate because youre leading. You don't want to change the wheels...," Trump said today at his event in Nashua, New Hampshire. ...I took a chance...Whatever the result I did the right thing. I did the right thing because I did something great for veterans.

(7,908 posts)"anchor baby" for a moment, Cruz might well be a Canadian 'anchor baby,' in the sense that his birth on Canadian soil conferred upon him Canadian citizenship automatically, i.e., merely by virtue of being born on Canadian soil.
I'm not an expert in Canadian law, so I'm not sure their system follows the same logic as ours.
Or am I missing something?

(7,107 posts)He gave up his Canadian citizenship back in 2014 or so.

(7,908 posts)be offensive and pejorative. Maybe not quite at the intensity of the "N*-word" but probably a phrase best left to the Trumpenproletariat.
But yeah, my understanding matches yours.

(10,119 posts)There have been some interesting arguments made by people who appear (not positive) credible. I just haven't felt inspired to waste my time for an ass like Cruz.
Trump calling him a Canadian "anchor baby" made my day. That's a deadly label Cruz will never recover from in this cycle. Cruz is done - on his way down.
i can't stand Trump but he's moping the floor with all the GOP candidates that come up to second place in the polls. He destroys them, they quickly wither in the polls as someone else rises to get smacked down.
I've never seen anything quite like it. It doesn't seem to matter what they do, they cannot knock Trump off his perch.

He already said he could murder people and they are good with that.
He has indicted all non whites as enemies of the country, and they are good with that.
On one hand it is very sick and scary, on the other, funny.
The ONLY concern is Karl Rove and the others do steal elections all the time. Kerry 2004, Ohio, etc.
Obviously 2000...so beware on election day when MILLIONS of Black and young people are told NO they cant vote, anything is possible.

(7,908 posts)prospect of watching the fascists shed Reagan's 11th Commandment ("Thou shalt never speak ill of another Republican" brings us a surprising je ne sais quoi. But I share your feeling of mirth.

(16,286 posts)have a choice between a moderately liberal, decent human being (either of ours) or a stated Nazi.
Remember, Cruz actually BELIEVES all the racist and sick shit Trump says...So our choices are clear now.
I worry about Rubio getting in, he is slick. Empty vessel for the worst criminals on the planet, very scary
