Pimptastic untouched ‘70s penthouse apartment can be yours for $158k

http://dangerousminds.net/comments/pimptastic_untouched_70s_penthouse_apartment_can_be_yours_for_158k

I love when these types gems pop up on the MLS or Zillow. They’re rare finds. Take this funky Chicago penthouse apartment for instance that recently went up on the Multiple Listing Service for a cool $158,000. It’s 1,877 square feet, built in 1972 and with its original decor included. Did you hear me? With its original decor included! Apparently—at least according to the Internet so this may not be 100% accurate—the people who owned the apartment never lived really there and therefore didn’t bother to update it. Hence why it’s “untouched” with all its funky psychedelic glory still intact.

If you have an extra $158k and want to live in the Chicago area, this awesome time capsule can be yours.

Fess up. Which one of you Chicago based DU'ers owns this gem?

No shag carpeting! And the kitchen appliances are white, not "burnt orange" or avocado green.

Culture took a turn for the worst and went down from the 70s. There have been a few gems since the 70s, but the over all trend is cultural toilet bowl swirling for the past 30 years.

I probably am too, have distant Mahoney cousins, and distant Kennedy cousins, too, if my preponderations is correct.

If bad leprechauns go somewhere after they die, it's definitely gonna be to that apartment.

It would make a great display!

If the Smithsonian can't use it, it would be perfect to rent to a period movie company.
