Comedian Katt Williams arrested in Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) – Comedian Katt Williams has been arrested on a battery charge in Georgia after a store employee told police that Williams punched him during an argument.

Gainesville police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook says officers responded to an assault call at a pool supply store around 11:30 a.m. Monday. Holbrook says officers found Williams outside “lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail.”

Hall County sheriff’s Deputy Nicole Bailes said in an email that Williams faces a misdemeanor battery charge and was being held on $5,000 bond. It wasn’t clear what started the argument.

Janice Lee, a publicist for Williams, didn’t immediately respond to phone and email messages.

Why the fuck is there a $5000 bond on a misdemeanor? alcibiades_mystery Mar 2016 #2

I'd start looking into excessive bond and court fees in that county. Who the fuck is going to skip bond on a misdemeanor assault charge? Sounds like a gouge.

It could be weighted for the fact that as a celebrity $5,000 might not be a sum Mr. Williams is willing to skip out on whereas, say a mere $500 would be easily waved away.

And even if he was willing to skip out on the $5,000 and thus forfeit the money, it'd be worth $5,000 for a bondsman to fetch him. I know I could use 5k. Maybe if Mr. Williams does skip bond I can talk Lover Boy into taking a business vacation.

No.

Lying on the ground with his hands behind his back because he's unarmed and black and doesn't want the police to murder him for getting into a fist-fight at a pool store.

On November 9, 2012, a lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles which alleges that on October 6, 2012 Williams hit his former assistant with "a closed fist" causing serious injury. The plaintiff is asking for punitive damages in the amount of $5 million.[30]

On November 15, 2012, he was arrested in Oakland, California on charges of suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly beating an 18-year-old Berkeley, California man with a bottle aboard Williams' tour bus.[31]

Also, who travels with an entourage of fifteen people? Do comedians really need that many bodyguards?
