Harry Reid Rips GOP for Waiting on 'President Trump' for Supreme Court Pick

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid today continued to pressure Republicans to change course and allow consideration of President Obama’s looming nominee to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court, even baiting the GOP by accusing them of waiting to “see what President Trump will do.”

“They think that they're going to wait and see what President Trump will do, I guess, as far as a nomination,” Reid charged after a bipartisan meeting of Senate Democratic and Republican leaders with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the Oval Office.

“The Republican Party is changing before our eyes. Donald Trump, Cruz, Rubio, they're all on the same kettle. They're all agreeing with Trump in one way or another. So we're seeing before our eyes a new Republican Party.”

I think he's being very savvy. Fight the GOP on the internet, not in the halls of Congress. A little bit of Trump and Sander's thinking outside the beltway, or is that under the beltway in this case? My pops was a pro-boxer. Reid sometimes thinks like what my dad would have called a palooka. But not today. He's kicking ass like Skittles!

I told him to have Obama use his EO power to appoint 3 Justices to the Supreme Court, and send them to work, effectively by passing Congress and giving McConnell a hernia. There is no limit on the number of justices in the Supreme Court.

One of the main purposes of an EO is to "carry out statutory or constitutional presidential responsibilities," and thus fulfill his duty's by appointing 3 Justices. Since the Supreme court is back up in cases to be heard, the 3 justice idea might be a good one where we have a 4-4 split.

This will send the GOP into a frenzy at being passed over, and they will sue Obama for failing to do their job to appoint a justice. It will effectively force McConnell into the corner, and also give Obama leverage to appoint anyone he chooses. Nor can McConnell call for impeachment when it is himself who is in dereliction of duty's.

But it will do much more, it will make this a campaign issue that dwarfs any that are out there. Forget Hillary's emails, the fire will be on these 3 new appointments. So once the suit is settled, it will be challenged by the 4-4 split, and if democrat justices hold the line, there will be seven liberal justices before Obama leaves office. In fact if the new three hold the line they will have a vote in the matter themselves.
