(86,074 posts)I was nervous at first but it turns out it isn't all that hard, you just have to be available while certain parts are "live".
I had fun, I'm glad there were some great subject suggestions!
And congrats, again, to mnhtbb!

(86,074 posts)I am now breathing a sigh of relief. I remember the last one you hosted, that went well, I was watching with the feeling I might be doing it someday, happened sooner than I thought it would.

Congrats to Mnhtnbb and Solly Mack in joining me in the top 3, and all others who entered and those who made it to the finals. Loved your photos. The clock was the most striking photo, and I'm happy it won first place. The pinball machines - so intriguing - made me want to turn them, recrop them, enjoy them, and remember them.
I have learned so much from participating in the photo contests, it's become a huge and beloved part of my life in spite of the fact that I am all but an amateur among folks of all ranges of expertise as photographers.
I thank DU for their participation, and for caring about our offerings, and for understanding that a little bit of visual art exercise is good for the soul once a month or so. I thank you for your votes every month, and for your appreciation.
The photo of the Singer sewing machine was in an abandoned gold mine in the Wild West. Abandoned in the 1940's. The wealth of visuals I came home with is YUUUUUGE.
Nothing was done there, it's arid and hot, nothing much disintegrated including the work clothes hung up on hooks and the iron frames for mattresses. The tree where they hung 13 men for stealing gold is also still standing.
Someone called my photo "wrong". That person caught the correct vibe.
