Just got a call from my best friend of the past 34 years. Her brother dropped dead this morning

He was just 60. Totally out of the blue.

Hug your loved ones people, let them know how much they mean to you. None of us are guaranteed another day.

When I was little, I remember watching my grandmother go to funeral after funeral in the cemetery next to the elementary school. I'd be playing at recess and my grandmother would again be standing in the cemetery, dressed in black with her black umbrella. She was only 53 back then. She ended up watching every friend, neighbor and sibling go before her. She finally left when she was 93. Now, I'm older than my grandmother was, and it's already started...

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend's brother.

Then many, many dear friends from AIDS in the 80's and 90's.

Life truly is short, and oh-so precious.

LET THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE KNOW THAT YOU LOVE THEM!

And of course, the older we all get the more of our agemates are dying around us.

I"m 67, and I don't think I'm all that old, but I'm horrified at how many high school classmates are already gone.

His children and friends knew it was bad, and were all able to see him while he was ok. Everyone got to laugh, talk about stuff, & hug each other. Then he was gone.

My husband got a call from the daughter of a friend and colleague on Sunday evening: her father had gone to take a nap in the afternoon
and never woke up.

Sudden death like that is very unnerving. I'm so sorry.
