I think I've finally processed how people could be vacillating between Bernie and Drumpf

again, hypothetical GE, not primaries.

There are a hell of a lot of people out there who have been screwed out of their livelihoods by the megacorporations. Their frontal lobes are wisely saying Bernie. Their rear lizard brains, however, are saying Immigrants! Blacks! Jews! Drumpf!

Thoughts?

Al Gore called what Trump is doing now "Amygdala Politics" which is pretty much the same thing.

Anyone who doesn't really follow politics but is rightfully frustrated, could see the appeal in neither of them, despite them being as completely opposite as possible.

Neither are taking big money and both are considered outsiders, so there's commonality there. One has his own billions, the other is a man of the people taking donations. I think Trump's bombastic speaking style and larger than life persona really speaks to the lizard brain. I just hope it doesn't win out.

The political establishment, which spans both parties, is the enemy of the people. It's obvious to everybody who isn't part of the problem.

Sanders and Trump are the two options on the table that aren't the usual force-fed establishment candidates. They are the only avenues of expression for people who are just sick and tired of being dumped on at every turn.

Sanders is the left middle finger, Trump is the right middle finger, and they're both pointed directly at the entrenched, corrupt power structure in DC.

My non-lizard brain is telling me something else. It's a bunch of people who haven't been paying attention to politics at all. You meet them all the time. They don't read. They don't watch the news unless it's the local before bed (they like to "stay informed", you know). And they don't listen to AM radio. They're just living.

They're into their kids and local schools, hunting/fishing, pro/college sports, cars, beers, motorcycles, etc. etc. All they know is, economically, things are fucked up baby. And Trump says, "It's the Mexicans! It's the Chinese! It's the polititions!" and that makes sense! Plus he sounds just like me. He's not doing that doublespeak non-answer thing I hate that makes me feel stupid. Then Bernie says, "No, it's the corporations! It's billionares! It's the polititions!", and that makes sense! Plus he sounds just like me. He's not doing that doublespeak non-answer thing I hate that makes me feel stupid. That's what we're seeing. But, i'm using the Tommy Chong part of the brain so what the fuck do I know?
