You know what amazes me about the Republican race for the nomination - it is that

with an obvious rejection of the GOP platform by a huge number of the base who are angry, the other candidates have not sweetened the pot. It is like the establishment has the policy platform they want and, come hell or highwater, or democracy, nothing will make them adjust their policies and offer something populist in nature. It is a sure sign that the establishment has nothing but contempt for the base and anything they need and the rest of the establishment candidates do what they are told.

His nomination will destroy the republican party for at least a generation. The GOP deserves everything that is coming to them.

it is just a blind spot. The Republican Party thought it had convinced the constituents of their bad policies, which are not in the interests of most of their members, when really what appealed to them is the racism. Trump is now offering them the chance to divorce their racism from policy, and we see how popular it is with that segment.

The Party can change its policy views, but I don't think that would be effective, since many of their members don't pay close attention to that. What they want is more rage and racism. So, what the Establishment would really need to change to woo Trump voters back is to add back in more rage, more racism, more crudeness, and more violence. The policy is irrelevant, in my assessment, which is no more accurate than anyone else's.
