I have served on a bunch of juries here at DU and generally think this is a good system.

However, for about the last 6 or 8 times I've been asked to serve, I click on take me there I know what I'm doing, and get this:

Thank you for choosing to serve. Unfortunately, that Jury is full.
Our community relies on people like you to help maintain a certain level of civil discourse, and we very much appreciate your willingness to spend some time serving on a Jury. Unfortunately, there was a glitch with our software and too many people were asked to serve on this Jury. We apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to fix this problem soon.

You remain eligible to serve on a Jury, and could be asked again at any time. When that happens, we hope that you will choose to serve again at that time. (Hopefully next time our software will not let you down.)

Thank you for your time, and thank you for your understanding.

Are any of the rest of you getting this message? Just wondering...

1. That happens to me, too. In the last 5 out of 6.

I managed to get through on 1.

2. Yes, often. I just assumed that they over select

to try and fill them quickly. Of course I could be totally wrong.

3. I've gotten that message three times in the past 24 hours.

And I didn't waste any time in clicking "yes I will serve".

Like you, I was thinking about posting something about it. Frankly, I was wondering if there was a new way of filtering and selecting jurors that I wasn't supposed to know about.

6. Indeed. I've gotten that when clicking on jury requests right away...

..and was wondering if DU overbooks like an airline, now...

5. I have, but I always think I was just late before noticing the blue banner.

My usual response is leave it alone anyways. I like to think of us Democrats open to discourse.

8. If you need x people quickly, you ask 2x people and first come, first picked.

The rest are thanked and sent on their way.

Just like when you get a jury duty notice from the local courthouse, but end up never being called to serve on a jury. It keeps the system moving quickly and smoothly to pick from a larger pool than you actually need.

9. Sometimes mirt bans trolls while the jury is starting. Then you get that message

Alert gets sent, jurors get notification, mirt bans Troll, you get that message.

10. I get it on occasion

If I understand the "system" correctly, it's what happens when someone makes a note to their friends that they sent an alert, and all those friends hammer their browsers' refresh buttons like a bunch of woodpeckers on speed.

11. I like the system

and I really do take the duty seriously. I've voted to hide one and left all the rest alone.
