'Moderate' John Kasich Is Actually Terrifying

http://readersupportednews.org/opinion2/277-75/35838-focus-moderate-john-kasich-is-actually-terrifying

Despite his carefully cultivated appearance, and despite comparisons to the moron and the goblin left standing next to him, John Kasich is no moderate. A cursory look at his record proves the opposite: On the issues that matter, Kasich is a deep-red conservative who would do everything in his power to move America in an uglier, more regressive direction.

Let's look at just one issue: the right of women in Ohio to get an abortion when they need one. As governor, Kasich has done everything in his power to put roadblock after roadblock in their way.

Kasich has worked with the legislature to jam some of the nation's most restrictive anti-abortion policies into the state's budget (a neat trick that makes them easier to pass).

John Kasich thinks women who are raped shouldn't be told where they can get an abortion, and he used the power of his governorship to stop it.

The 2015 budget included further restrictions to abortion clinics, meaningless requirements masquerading as "protecting women's health" with the actual purpose of shutting clinics down. And shut down they have: About half of Ohio's abortion providers have shuttered since Kasich took office, and that number could easily rise.

Kasich looks relatively harmless now compared to Trump. But he was right wing crazy back when the GOP was still somewhat sane.
They would never nominate him. Trump is their creature, and they can't get rid of him.

One gets the impression that Trump's shtick is mostly theater - and the Donald's nothing if not a showman.

The others - including Kasich - have a long and sordid history of pushing medieval policies, even if Kasich is a little more pragmatic here and there.

Trump has had a wide variety of positions and would be influenced by his advisors; Cruz has convictions and would stick to them.

I've preferred Kasich for a Repub nominee because he's not insane and I wouldn't lay awake nights about him being in front of Putin or Jinping or Jong-un. (Or Trudeau or Nieto, for that matter.) But maybe I should root for Trump (not that my rooting counts for anything) since Dems would more likely win that way.

All of his 'Ohio balanced budget + surplus' bloviation is true, but only because he did it by ripping away much needed funds and financially starving local communities all over the state. Some municipalities stopped hiring cops, repairing infrastructure and leaving open positions in local government 'cause they can't afford to pay anyone. But hey, being able to say "I created a surplus" sure sounds good at a debate I guess.

He's absolutely no better than the other two jackasses...in fact he may be worse, because he successfully put his conservative playbook into action as a state executive and knows how to pull the levers to get things done.

He just happened to take office at the depth of the Bush Depression, so of course things were going to improve. He's an economic imbicile who still believes in the transfer of wealth to the wealthiest of the wealthy and that somehow jobs will be magically created by the invisible hand of the free market.

What a fucking buffoon and asshole.

Seems like the Defense Department (back during the Bush days) called down some military contractors for endangering our troops by injecting religion into the wars by imprinting ammunition with Christian scripture - turning the wars into holy wars.
