Anonymous threatens to expose Ted Cruz's alleged prostitution activity if he doesn't leave the raceBy Leslie Salzillo

After going after the likes of the KKK, ISIS, and Donald Trump, the entity known as Anonymous is now threatening to expose Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz. On March 15, the hacktivists released a YouTube video telling the world Cruz is harboring secrets of which his religious zealot followers might not approve.
Here is the video.
In the beginning, Anonymous attacks Cruz for committing voter fraud and lying.
At the end, Anonymous gives Cruz an ultimatum.
It's very believable that Ted Cruz is harboring some dark secrets. And many would love to know just how dark and dirty it gets. But there is most likely a majority who would simply love to see this insidious and dishonest politician leave office/politics for good. If Anonymous causes this to happen, more power to them.

We've had the scandal rug pulled out from under us too many times to hope too much, but maybe Carson knows where the bodies are buried and provoked this one. It would be nice if he turned out to be useful as something besides a sleep aid.

I remember when everyone thought a certain Bush political operative was about to be indicted and frog marched, and that turned out to be total bullshit, too.
That's one thing about being "ANONYMOUS." Anyone can put this shit up, use that stupid mechanical voice, and act like they are speaking with authority--because NO ONE has any authority in that loose confederation of discontented individuals who are apparently angry that "Mr. Cruz" was mean to "Mr. Carson" -- this sounds like a bunch of horse shit to me--a way to damn with insinuation and accusations.
I'll believe it when I see it.

The story wasn't bullshit when it was released, but unexpected actions changed the outcome in Rove's favor. So yes, it wound up not coming to pass, but at the time of the story an indictment was indeed imminent. An accurate shapshot and not based on nothing.
MADem
(135,425 posts)was going to happen within 24 hours, then 24 business hours (whatever that was)...and then, it never happened.
And Rove is still out there, shitting on the process, running a super pac. Untouched. Unpunished. Unaccountable.

(14,286 posts)1) DU is a mixture of fact, opinion and speculation, and posts must be looked at as individual contributions rather than collective consensus, and
2) Anonymous is not DU, and they have certain skills that go well beyond speculation.
MADem
(135,425 posts)published at DU--this isn't a "DU" thing.
And I could create an "ANONYMOUS" video and upload it too. It's not like anyone has a lock on that stuff--heck, just put a new voice over on this "How To" video and there ya go!
I'm just not impressed with ANONYMOUS. Most of the time, their claims are horseshit. That's probably because anyone can join.

(53,743 posts)I recall they claimed to have helped in 2012 by screwing up Rove's vaunted GOTV machine ORCA.
Whether it was them or not, somebody hacked it because Rove and his operatives couldn't use it on election day.
Anonymous talks a bunch.
Action? Not so much.

Let's wait and see on this.

(31,940 posts)They claimed, without any evidence whatsoever, that Rove had a super-computer that would hack the election and change election results. They claimed they stopped that. Well my claim is that I stopped a Martian invasion.

(53,743 posts)What's up with that?
I still say wait and see on whether Anonymous delivers. If they bring down Cruz it helps us.
Why be against that if it happens?
I'm certainly not.

The news really shouldn't be reporting what Anonymous says. They're as reliable as a random YouTube comment. There are no standards of what they put out, including threats. That's why Anonymous has threatened everyone, from
ISIS to Scientology.
