OK, maybe Pres. Obama should have foregone the baseball game and flown back to the U.S. after the news of the bombing? I get it! And maybe he should receive some backlash for not coming back? I get it! But what I don't get! Why did these same people who criticized Pres. Obama, but never criticized Pres. Reagan for waiting to response to the Marine barracks bombing until he returned back from vacation? Or why they never criticized Pres. Geo. W. Bush for saying mission accomplished on a Navy ship, when we all knew that it was never accomplished? I could go on, but I am not here to jump on any bandwagon. No matter what Pres. Obama does, they will say it is wrong.

(4,713 posts)Pres O have any involvement what so ever. Not to mention he can work anywhere. Other than a phone call what else would he need to do?

(39,367 posts)Don't buy into the bullshit. The Belgians were able to solve the crime the same day even with Obama attending a baseball game. He also managed to deliver a speech that will forever resonate in Cuba, which none of the MSM paid attention to as they were too busy marinating themselves in the latest GOP-supplied O-sux talking points.

Otherwise, Europe had a mass killing. So sad. We have a lot of them too. I don't see European leaders canceling meetings because of Sandy Hook.
Proud of the president. The best way to fuck with terrorists is to downplay all the drama and try to go on living.
But if you hate him you will always find a reason he did something wrong. Passive aggressive question mark at the end and all.
Damn good moment for President Obama. Don't give in to the panic and fear the right wants to stoke.

The OP here is clearly in support of our president carrying on.
What happened in Belgium is tragic, but not our immediate problem (fault yes). What else should he have done?
Flying to Cuba, opening communication, trade, etc and possibly creating another ally is always preferable to creating more enemies.
sorry for rambling, I haven't had my coffee yet

(31,170 posts)"..."It's always a challenge when you have a terrorist attack anywhere in the world. Particularly in this age of 24/7 news coverage, you want to be respectful and understand the gravity of the situation. But the whole premise of terrorism is to try to disrupt people's ordinary lives. And one of my most powerful memories, and one of my proudest moments as president, was watching Boston respond after the marathon. And when Ortiz went out and said, probably the only time that America didn't have a problem with somebody cursing on live TV, was when he talked about Boston and how strong it was and that it was not going to be intimidated. And that is the kind of resilience and kind of strength that we have to continually show in the face of these terrorists. They cannot defeat America. They don't produce anything. They don't have a message that appeals to the vast majority of Muslims or the vast majority of people around the world. What they can do is scare and make people afraid. And disrupt our daily lives and divide us. And as long as we don't allow that to happen, we're going to be OK..."

(3,089 posts)And in the face of unprecedented opposition and dirty politics. I think he has no "F- - ks" left about what people say about him. He knows the haters are going to smear his legacy no matter what. He knows the floodgates of investment money will flow creating jobs and more opportunities once he leaves office. He knows they were holding back on him...remember his "get in the game" speech to investors six years ago?
He is satisfied with his life and now all he has to do is love and protect his beautiful family and wait on those precious grandchildren that will surely be coming his way...if he allows Malia and Sasha to marry .
A more decent President we have never had in office except for maybe Carter.
Peace.
