The difference between an ordinary narcissist and someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Ordinary, garden variety narcissist--"Look at me....aren't I great?"

Narcissistic Personality Disorder--"Look at me. I am great. And if you don't agree that I'm great, there will be consequences, understand?"

That's also what makes those with NPD dangerous. You put political power into the hands of an individual with NPD and you'll end up with a tyrant.

My ex-husband's psychiatrist told me that he had the worst case of NPD he'd ever seen. I'm divorced from him for 10 years and very very happily remarried to his polar opposite but I'm still deeply and profoundly scarred.

disorder: they don't have relationships, they take prisoners.

I have to feel a little sorry for any of Trump's nearest and dearest. I've known a few with that disorder and I know how they can charm the birds out of the trees--until you get too close.

(She who must be obeyed.) Would need to be center of attention, but if another female already in that position would not compete, would instead feel uncomfortable and retreat.
