Do you remember that feeling? That was a fucking awful night. This is obviously not that bad but there's something about it that hits a similar sore spot.

5. The difference is....

....that night (Election Night 2004), I still had some hope that we would come back and America would recover.

Tonight, I concede that liberalism is dead and all we have accomplished over the past 80 years has been lost. I turned 40 last month and ever since I was 12 I have fought for Democratic candidates and progressive values. Despite a few occasional victories, it's fair to say that my efforts have ultimately been a failure. The American people are too self-centered, short-sighted, and immature to listen.
