Corporations Grow Nervous About Participating in Republican Convention

Well, this is interesting. Who knew that Corporations sponsored and helped bankroll the Conventions of the Political Parties?

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/31/us/politics/donald-trump-republican-national-convention.html?_r=1

Some of the country’s best-known corporations are nervously grappling with what role they should play at the Republican National Convention, given the likely nomination of Donald J. Trump, whose divisive candidacy has alienated many women, African-Americans and Hispanics.

An array of activist groups is organizing a campaign to pressure the companies to refuse to sponsor the gathering, which many of the corporations have done for both the Republican and Democratic parties for decades.

The pressure is emerging as some businesses and trade groups are already privately debating whether to scale back their participation, according to interviews with more than a dozen lobbyists, consultants and fund-raisers directly involved in the conversations.

This needs to go viral! It's pretty obvious that the GOP is a "criminal, racist, homophobic, totalitarian party. Should Coca-Cola really be aligning itself with such an organization? Google and Apple too?

I will give Trump one thing. He has pulled the covers back on what it is that really drives the GOP and allows it to thrive.

Isn't it past time we shrunk the GOP enough to drown it in a bathtub?

They're usually kept discreetly out of camera range (i.e., not Safeco Field or The Great American Ballpark), but a lot of corporations sponsor "hospitality rooms" or entertainments or some other diversion to keep the delegates jolly and occupied while the dreary ancillary business of the party convention drags on.

This could be an exception to the usual corporate rule that war and conflict is good for business. Getting sucked into the maelstrom of hatred and criminality isn't where any of these businesses want to be.

Corporations generally line up to help fund the conventions of both parties.

corporations that share our values, like COSTCO or Lowes. Hell, I have no problem with millionaires supporting Democrats if they support sane policy.

Not all of Corporate America is "evil". In fact, corporations had done great things for our country and helped us establish a strong Middle Class.

It was the policies and St. Ronnie RAY-GUN and the supply-siding Ayn Randians that destroyed our Middle Class. A strong Middle Class is a "choice". As a government, you can choose to institute economic and tax policies that build a strong Middle Class, or you can choose not to.

Reagan chose not to, and we've been paying for it ever since.
