Man allegedly beats mom with her own crutch over $3.50
A 65-year-old Rogersville woman remained in critical condition Tuesday after suffering severe head injuries that allegedly occurred as a result of being beaten by her son with his fists and her own crutch on May 27.
Rogersville police said the motive for the beating was a belief by the son, Kenneth Charles Gilreath, 42, 200 Arrowhead Drive, Apt. H-45, Rogersville, that his mother had taken $3.50 he was saving to use for laundry.
The money belonged to him, and she gave her daughter $3.50 of his money that he was saving to do laundry, Rogersville Police Department Detective Charlie Gibson said. He snapped and assaulted her. Shes on crutches, and we didnt actually find a weapon other than crutches.
