(309 posts)...is also Purple Rain. Corner title says, "In memory of Prince."
I've never seen so many people and institutions so touched...or for some, is it just shrewd commercialism?

(309 posts)....more bewilderment. I get the individual outpourings of disbelief and grief and reflection, just don't understand how an institution like The Weather Channel "grieves" or needs to memorialize Prince. If he hadn't had a popular song with "rain" in the title, would they have done something to remember him? Do they do that for other artists?
That said, it is wonderful to hear the previously hidden stories about Prince's humanitarian and philanthropic activities. Makes him EVEN cooler, IMHO.

(22,380 posts)once took my then 15 year old son to a Prince concert in Charlotte. I was a tight assed stuck up person who likes opera, felt I had to be his body guard and did not want to be there. I sat and read a book for most of the concert.
I am so damn sorry I did that.

(149,560 posts)You do what you can at the time.
There was no way you could help being who you were!
And I'm sure your son had a great time.

(22,380 posts)and told him I was sorry to not have made it a good time for all. Truth be told, I was a self employed single Mom, struggling, and did not have what it took for two tickets to a special concert one and a half hours away, financially or time wise.
I would act very differently today.
