1. That they arrived at some place after a long period of time or have a lot of posts to reach a
milestone? What do you mean by added?

5. a post reaches a certain number of replies (a milestone) and gets kicked
back to the top of the 'latest threads' page. Milestones are at increments of 25 replies (eg -25,50,75,100.....)

9. This was an new feature when DU went to its current format
a couple of years ago. That way hot threads got more exposure.

at the top of the page - Latest Threads for example - you can also set at what # of posts you want as "milestones". The default is 25.

11. There should be a 'millstone' tag as well
for a thread which turns out so badly that it becomes a millstone around the author's neck.

12. Naw, a small but highly vocal clatch of posters would put on a long-suffering martyr act
until the feature was removed. Sort of like the unrec feature. Or the alert feature.
