this is a rant about the forgotten ones

The Democratic Party used to care about the
everyday working people, but has since the
90ties not paid attention to them (may be even
earlier.)

Everyone talks about education, and I don't want
to minimize it, because we need educated
citizens .
Yet here is my point: How many people among all
workers really need an MBA, a college degree to do
the following:

Drive a truck or bus,
paint a house or rooms,
do carpentry,
trim trees and bushes,
work on cars as mechanics,
pour cement or work on roads,
cut hair,
work in a shop,
work on small farms,
welders or plastic workers,
put up roofs or repair them?

I think you get what I mean. Whatever you want to
call them, blue collar workers or anything else, these
people have been forgotten for a long time by our party;
and that is a shame.

a lot of these people are NOT stupid, but they
are the ones going either for Bernie or for Trump,
because they feel that both parties don't care about them.

I don't know the percentage of those workers in
comparison of those with degrees, but I think it
may be substantial.

We have to concentrate on them, instead of leaving
them to Trump or the repugs.

Thank you for reading this.

1. Obama and Hillary has pushed for technical training schools, no, not everyone needs a college

education, there were the days when technical schools was very accepted, trained lots of people, I also attended a technical school, no tuition. Retraining for those when technology has replaced the need for workers, also been there.

3. I am glad to hear that, because I think that

the party has not invested enough in those areas.
It seems everyone on our side screams about
college degrees, instead of technical schools.

I just don't believe that you can have more than ~30%
of the population with higher degrees. I think that it is
a false idea to get everybody into that category.

Yes, we need technical and practical schools.

Do you have any idea, how many people in this
country would be in that category?

5. Fuck the training schools; get a union apprenticeship.

No reason to pay for knowledge when you can get paid for learning.

7. You have a point, but unfortunately unions are

decreasing in their effectiveness. The most
blatant result of this showed itself in Wisconsin.

The problem I see right now is that the party
should support the people, yet it does not do so
in a strong way.

These are the voters of the FDR kind, yet seem
to go now to the Trump campaign, because we
have done nothing for them.

6. I dropped out of college, where I was an English major in the honors program

to become a bricklayer. 40+ years later, I'm glad I did. I could never have been cooped up indoors for a job.
