Hillary Clinton Targets Republicans Turned Off by Donald Trump (Really?)This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by etherealtruth (a host of the General Discussion forum). turmoil Donald J. Trump’s ascent has caused within the Republican Party, hoping to gain the support of Republican voters and party leaders including former elected officials and retired generals disillusioned by their party’s standardbearer. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/07/us/politics/hillary-clinton-republican-party.html?emc=edit_th_20160507&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=70251688 When Bernie said he was going after Republican votes, Hillary's followers said -- "Sounds like desperation, going after people who don't give a rats ass about, women, minorities, immigrants." "Wow! And people actually hid posts of mine where I questioned this man's character. Turns out, I failed to accurately estimate how low he could actually sink." "THIS Has been the argument for Bernie for the last 6 months and it's still not compelling." "And if Hillary had made any effort to court Libertarians and Reps, the howling here at DU about her true colors, her RW policies coming home to roost and more importantly, her decidedly RW policies that would be implemented to make rw'ers feel right at home...all of that howling would be deafening." Can you hear anything?

5. OP's failure of basic reading comprehension skills.
Bernie's courting "Trump supporters". Clinton wants the support of "Republicans Turned Off by Donald Trump". Quite a difference there.

8. And how exactly do you distinguish one from the other?
You mean Hillary's only courting the Wall Street republicans and not the disgruntled working class Republicans?
What rule of thumb are you applying? Will they be vetted for signs of racism and xenophobia? Just how will you select them? |

9. Republicans who vote for Sanders are welcome, but those who vote for Clinton aren't?
I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

12. Sanders is courting Republicans who love Donald Trump.
Clinton is courting Republicans who hate Donald Trump.
Any ESL student would understand the difference within one day. |

13. The Trump supporters Sanders is courting are likely on the extreme end of rabid RW fascism.
OTOH the Trump haters Clinton is looking for a likely sane.
