(13,877 posts)been honest about his good and bad sides. Thus, he has nothing to hide. That's what the Republicans love about him. He's a Bad Boy. Just own it and move on.
Hillary, OTOH, is still deeply in denial about current issues and the many aspects of her 25 years in the public spotlight. She's Shady, at best. So many scandals to pick from. Trump is not impressed with the Clinton Machine.
I can't think what she could throw at him that would stick and that he wouldn't have a devastating retort. He's the master at that. She's used to being a boxing partner with her detractors...bobbing and jumping around. He is used to the knock out punch...no questions or answers needed.

(90,551 posts)As for Hillary being "shady" because of "scandals" invented by the RW without a shred of evidence, do you know the old tactic about asking someone to deny a lie about them?
Political opponent: "So, Congressman Brown, when did you stop beating your wife?"
Brown, appalled: "I've never beaten my wife!!" (And he has not.)
Newspaper headline: "Brown denies being wife beater. Investigation continues."
Internet poll: "Do you think a wife beater should be re-elected?"
Public reactions (many venues): "Brown is scum. Why would his wife even stay with him? Is she afraid to leave?"
News reporter: "Congressman Brown, how are you and Mrs. Brown dealing with the news that you are an abusive spouse?"
And the cycle continues. The more he denies the lie, the wider it spreads.
libdem4life
(13,877 posts)not been honest. To me and what I've seen and read, he's kind of overdone it to the extent that it's almost folly...which is what the Republicans love about him.
I'm always open to new ideas...what is he lying about or hiding?
Oh, and the "beating your wife" really isn't appropriate here, sorry.

(8,367 posts)She said Donald can run his campaign, and she'll run her campaign and talk about what really matters.
Frankly, I'm a Bernie supporter and while I'm going to vote blue no matter who, Trump's constant, rude, riduculous tactics make me more inclined to not only vote for Hillary, but contribute to her campaign.
Edited because his campaign is NOT the same as her campaign!

(38 posts)Obviously Trump is trying to prevent Dems from discussing his many affairs, took 2nd wife along as his gf on a family vacation with his first wife, etc. There are no doubt hundreds of hookers he's trying to keep quiet now. He'll need a CPAC just to pay them off.
It's up to the MEDIA to call him on this BS. It's the Presidency, not a reality show. I have never in my life been so disappointed with MSNBC. They just play along to get ratings... while the country heads to hell in a hand basket.

(362 posts)Hillary has no message. Think over her positions.
Economy: She represents the interests of Goldman Sachs.
Foreign Policy: She is so clueless that she believes that the Benghazi episode was created by a Youtube video. Besides, her husband's administration supported the Taliban.
Syria: She caused the mess in Syria. We have no right to be there and meddle in Syria. Instead of staying away from Syria, she ended up arming the 'rebels' which is another term for ISIS.
Worse, a look at her emails shows that she has very little understanding of foreign policy and lets others run the department. These emails also show that she is uncomfortable with the use of technology. She wants her assistant to print out emails (LOL) and the tweets coming from the twitter id under her name are clearly sent out by others. Many tweets were posted even as she was debating.
There is also a valid argument that Bill Clinton harassed women and therefore was a misogynistic president who perpetuated patriarchy.
This is why we need to nominate Bernie.

(4,229 posts)Yeah but despite the rough patches we worked it out and we're still together.
When you have something together you have to weigh the totality of that over anything that has happened in the short run.
Just like politics if you disagree with somebody on one thing you don't cut them off and consider them an enemy or try to get them ousted. You know there will be good times and situations where you will work together again.
It's a lesson I'll try to incorporate as president, never to shut anybody out always to try to mend fences.

(4,490 posts)Let other allies and superpacs fling shit back at Trump drawing attention to what a piece of human garbage he is.
I think it's done entirely to bring Hillary herself down to a level that he operates best at. I don't think the old affairs have any affect on her with the voters one way or the other. Could even be a prime opportunity to highlight Trump's lack of real policy to run on and look more presidential.

(10,951 posts)However, the right person (not too closely linked to the Clinton campaign) could have a field day. One might make the argument that Trump is an enabler (after all, wife number 2 had an affair with one of their bodyguards). Then there is Trump's comment on his daughter and how beautiful she is and he would date her if she wasn't his daughter. No.1 that is just plain icky and NO. 2, that couldn't go over well with wife #3. With 3 wives, Trump is hardly the model of family values.
Just research his background and everything he has been involved in and there is plenty of dirt that a Superpac would work with.

(59,498 posts)If she feels it is needed, others can point out that Mr Trump was not really "better" than Bill Clinton. Others can point out that almost all of the meme that Hillary Clinton led the attack is coming from flaky sources and it is very likely not true. (Not to create trouble, but I suspect many remember that in 1992, it was Bettie Currie who was tasked to keep down "Bimbo eruptions" and Carvelle and Begala were out there as well -- not Hillary Clinton.
Personally, I think it might be better to have no one connected to the campaign respond at all. The reason is that ANY reaction gives this at least another media cycle ... and likely more as Trump will respond.
Years ago, on DU when obnoxious untrue threads showed up on a politician I liked, wiser people than me argued to "let it sink" -- that fighting it just caused it to be discussed further. Though obviously, what HRC's campaign is dealing with is not arguments on DU, I think the same basic idea might be in play.
I think Trump's reason of bringing it up is because he senses that there are liberals who really do have problems with BILL Clinton's actions and that it makes them uncomfortable. However, the big reason is that the "nasty enabler" clearly tries to negatively characterize Hillary as not likable. Therefore, if anything, HRC should take the high road and just say something to the effect that it is sad that Trump uses tabloids and gossip magazines as his primary news sources and that there are important issues that should be given more time than things like this.

Only thing is, Hillary should never respond to Trump's mud. As they say, you both get dirty and the pig likes it. Her surrogates need to be nipping at the pig's thin skin nonstop -- Tiny-hands Trump can dish it out but can't take it, and strong women scare him.
