You all hardly noticed it, which is not surprising. House GOP SHAME SHAME SHAME!

I can see why it was barely noticed here on this board, I really can.

But for those who care about OTHERS and how politics affects OTHERS and not yourself so much, this is important.

Shouts of "Shame, shame, shame," erupted in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday as Republican lawmakers narrowly defeated legislation to protect the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees of government contractors.

The measure, an amendment to a veterans and military construction spending bill introduced by New York Democrat Sean Maloney, initially had enough "yes" votes to pass, according to the count in the House chamber.

But House Republican leaders extended the time allowed for the vote as they urged enough party members to change their positions to defeat it by a vote of 213 to 212.

Now the bill would have been a waste of time if a non Democrat was in the White House, because a non Democrat would never do something to piss off the bigoted base that elected them.

1. Oh, good. Another scolding, shaming OP. The shame is not DUers who won't post as you wish.

A Democratic President signed DOMA and a Democratic candidate for President supporte DOMA and "traditional" marriage until after a Republican majority SCOTUS declared it unconstitutional.

Plenty of shame to go around in both of our largest political parties. Direct it at those who do the most harm with their laws and prisons, not DUers.

2. This was posted yesterday and a discussion was had around the 5 Democrats who chose to abstain.

Their votes could have been the difference, and yet we couldn't count on them.
