Rulings Due on WikiLeaks Dismissal Motions

An Army private accused of causing an enormous spillage of U.S. intelligence secrets is returning to a Fort Meade courtroom to learn whether some of the charges will be dismissed.

A military judge is scheduled to rule Friday on defense motions to dismiss 10 of the 22 charges against Pfc. Bradley Manning of Crescent, Okla.

The defense contends the government used unconstitutionally vague language in eight counts charging Manning with unauthorized possession and disclosure of classified information.

Defense lawyers also maintain that prosecutors wrongly allege that Manning exceeded his authorization to access a Defense Department intranet system.
