Obama's slip?

Yahoo News posted a piece entitled "Obama’s Intentional or Accidental Slip?" Ostensibly, the title refers to the following quote:

While addressing a crowd at a New York fundraiser, Obama said, "Not going back to a set of policies that say you're on your own. And that's essentially the theory of the other side. George Romney -- wrong guy. Governor Romney."

So close Mr. President, you were just one generation off. Next time, check the roster.

But I have to wonder if the title is more aptly applied to this quote, from later in the article:

Obama gave a shout out to Ellen [DeGeneres], "I want to thank my wonderful friend who accepts a little bit of teasing about Michelle beating her in pushups, but I think she claims Michelle didn't go all the way down. That's what I heard." (emphasis added)

Hmm. I'm thinking intentional on that one.

The writer of the article seemed to think Obama was referring to Romney's father (another George), but I think you've hit the nail on the head. And I agree: great idea -- connect Romney to shrub.
