NEW DATA: 6.6 Million Young Adults Insured Thanks To Obamacare

Even though much of the Affordable Care Act does not go into effect into 2014, conservatives insist the bill is making things worse for Americans. But a new study shows that one implemented provision of the ACA is already providing millions of young Americans with health insurance.

According to a study by the Commonwealth Fund, 6.6 million young adults have signed up for coverage through their parents’ health insurance plans. Under the ACA provision, young people can now stay on their parents’ plans until the age of 26. About half of the 19-to-25 year-olds interviewed for the study reported opting in to their parents’ plans between November 2010 and November 2011.

Last month, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Education Secretary Arne Duncan wrote college presidents and student organizations urging them to remind students they can stay on their parents’ plans after graduation. “Now, graduating students are free to make career choices based on what they want to do, not where they can get health insurance,” they wrote.

Personal story here. My son and daughter in law are sweet, hardworking, and great people, but got underwater on their home and then my son lost his job.
They were also ready to deliver baby number three. The midwife birthing center had a crisis of two recent deaths and was not allowing the midwives to practice. DIL was over due.

Found out she was never taken off her dad's health insurance. She was still covered. She had Finnigan in a nice family style room, with pitosin, and an epidural. It would have bankrupted this little family to pay the full price of so much medical intervention.

They are already in the midst of short selling the older home they worked so hard to fix up.

Man, my dear son needs a job with decent benefits.

my next door neighbor's daughter life was saved due to The Affordable Care Act. She was so sick and had no insurance...now she does and is getting the treatment she needs...So nice to see a smile on her face. I just hope the Supreme Court does not strike down the law so that Obama doesn't get a win.
