Because of course, having the technology to travel faster than light would leave us without the ability to scan another species without an invasive procedure. Like, you know, a 1 second all body cellular scan at the molecular level. Cause they have this incredibly advanced technology, and. . .

Never mind. Those that believe in the crop circles and cattle mutiliation aren't going to listen.

I always wondered why, if they can traverse the universe with such ease, aliens don't turn the lights off before buzzing Iowa.

In "Cosmos" Carl Sagan pointed out that people who see spaceships from another planet just don't know what they're looking at. He adds that one type of person never sees a UFO: astronomers, and they spend their entire lives searching the night sky. They simply refer to them as "Identified Flying Objects".

These days, very many people (perhaps a majority in the US) have cameras at the ready right in their pockets. Why is it we haven't seen a corresponding increase in the number of UFO photos?

I posed that question as a joke to the woman sitting next to me at the bar, and she smirked as she said, "Well, they obviously figured out that we have more ways to detect them." We had an entertaining conversation!

And their planetary resources that might be targeted for what we'd now call a hostile takeover as suggested in John Carpenter's cult classic, They Live. At times, I regard Republicans as playing this role on Earth, in my darker moods:

that crop circles don't require travel. They are made by alien lasers thousands of light years away aimed at the earth.
