I am just thankful for all the vets that DID make it back to their families and friends. THAT is what I am thankful for today and to morn those that never had a chance and those that gave 100% and then found another 100% and another.

(284 posts)I hate when people mix them up. This holiday was not brought to you by your vets, this was brought to you by those who never made it home.

(2,599 posts)I find myself, as a Vietnam vet, in awe of those who went before and after and didn't survive. They only don't come home when we forget them and their service to us. Vets like myself all over America and wherever they find themselves in the world know the feeling of survivors guilt. When we see the headstones and hear the bugles lamenting cry a special place in us is awakened and we remember, properly, those who gave all.

I'm grateful for those who served and returned home.
